The Hellenic Army Academy, commonly known as the Evelpidon, is a military academy. It is the Officer cadet school of the Greek Army and the oldest third-level educational institution in Greece. Hellenic Military Academy is situated 1½ km northeast of Βατιστας.

The Vari Cave, also known as the Nympholyptos Cave, is a small cave northeast of Vari in Attica, Greece. In classical antiquity the cave was used as a shrine dedicated to Apollo, Pan and the Nymphs. Archedimou Cave is situated 2½ km north of Βατιστας.
