Mainz Cathedral or St. Martin's Cathedral is located near the historical center and pedestrianized market square of the city of Mainz, Germany. This 1000-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is the site of the episcopal see of the Bishop of Mainz. Mainz Cathedral is situated 100 metres southwest of Der Mainzer Dom zum Fühlen und Sehen.

The Liebfrauenplatz in Mainz is the easternmost of the four squares around Mainz Cathedral. It originally housed the Liebfrauenkirche, which was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century and whose outline can still be seen today on the square, and marks the transition between the cathedral and the Rhine in the direction of the Fischtor, one of the eastward city gates.
