84 Plymouth Grove, now known as Elizabeth Gaskell's House, is a writer's house museum in Manchester, England. The Grade II* listed neoclassical villa was the residence of William and Elizabeth Gaskell from 1850 until their deaths in 1884 and 1865 respectively. 84 Plymouth Grove is situated 1,500 feet southwest of Ardwick, Stockport Road / opposite Devonshire Street.

Ardwick is an area of Manchester, England, one mile southeast of the city centre. The population at the 2011 census was 19,250. Historically in Lancashire, by the mid-nineteenth century Ardwick had grown from being a village into a pleasant and wealthy suburb of Manchester, but by the end of that century became heavily industrialised.
