Kato Paphos Castle

Paphos Castle is located at the western end of the city port. It was originally a Byzantine fortress built to protect the port. The main fortress of the city was located in Saranta Kolones, about 600 metres west, and was destroyed by the earthquake of 1222. Kato Paphos Castle is situated 1¼ km west of Diana 50.

It is noted for the production of lokum, a confectionery commonly known as Turkish delight in English, and is the only place in the world with protected geographical indication for lokum.
