Fajã dos Vimes is situated 5 km east of Rua de Baixo.

The lagoon was listed along with Lagoa da Caldeira as a "Wetland of International Importance" under the Ramsar Convention in 2005. Lagoa da Fajã dos Cubres is situated 5 km north of Rua de Baixo.
