Built in 1981 and dedicated to the Hindu deity Venkateswara, it features traditional South Indian style and serves as a centre for Hindu worship and cultural events in Southern California. Originally called the Liberty Canyon Wildlife Crossing, the bridge will be a critical wildlife crossing, spannning the ten-lane Ventura Freeway, connecting the Simi Hills with the isolated Santa Monica Mountains. Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is situated 2½ miles northwest of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
