The Monastery of Saint John of Rila, also known as Rila Monastery ("Sveti Ivan Rilski", is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria.

The Urdini Lakes are a group of glacial lakes, situated in the northwestern Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. They are not as popular with the tourists as the Seven Rila Lakes further west, because they are situated in the most difficultly accessible areas of the mountain range. Urdini Lakes is situated 5 km north of Rila Monastery.

Village
Pastra is a small mountain village in the Rila Municipality of Kyustendil Province in south-western Bulgaria. As of 2013, it had 151 inhabitants. It lies at the western foothills of the Rila Mountains on the banks of the Rilska River just outside the borders of the Rila Monastery Nature Park. Pastra is situated 10 km west of Rila Monastery.
