Located in the Motijheel area of Dhaka, it is predominantly used for football matches and serves as the home venue for the Bangladesh national football team. National Stadium, Dhaka is situated 700 metres northwest of Bangabhaban.

It has a capacity of more than 42,000 worshippers. Baitul Mukarram National Mosque is situated 1 km northwest of Bangabhaban.
