It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium of Duhok SC which plays in the Iraqi Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of 22,800. Duhok Stadium is situated 3½ km east of Dohuk Tax Directorate.

The town had a population of 71,557 in July 2018. Simele is situated 10 km west of Dohuk Tax Directorate.
