Higashi Hongan-ji, is one of two dominant sub-sects of Jōdo Shinshū in Japan and abroad, the other being Nishi Hongan-ji, the "Western Temple of the Original Vow". Higashi Hongan-ji is situated 420 metres south of Gojō.

Shosei-en Garden is a garden in Kyoto, Japan. The garden has teahouses, a hall with a Buddhist altar, and two ponds. The garden was named by Sennyo Shōnin, who used the garden as a residence when he retired in 1653 and was gifted the land by the shōgun Tokugawa Iemitsu. Shosei Garden is situated 500 metres southeast of Gojō.
