Mopti is one of the main ports in Mali, and a good gateway for many of the country's most impressive attractions such as Djenné, Timbuktu, and Dogon Country. Mopti is a city in the Mopti Region in Mali, north east of the capital Bamako.

Sévaré is a city in Mali's Mopti Region. It is a crossroads town of about 40,000. It lies on the main route through Mali between Gao in the east, and Segou and Bamako in the west. Many travellers pass through Sévaré en route to Mopti and Bandiagara.
