The Taiping railway station is a Malaysian train station located at and named after the town of Taiping, Perak. Malaysia's first railway station was situated in Taiping and was opened in 1885 when the Taiping-Port Weld Railway Line, Malaysia's first, was opened. Taiping is situated 2½ km east of Kampung Tekkah.

Located at Jalan Taming Sari near the commercial town centre, it is one of the biggest hospitals in Malaysia and is the second biggest in the State of Perak. Taiping Hospital is situated 3 km east of Kampung Tekkah.

Kamunting is a town in Larut, Matang and Selama District, Perak, Malaysia. It is the biggest satellite town of Taiping. During the Malayan Emergency between 1948 and 1960, Kamunting was the site of a major British/Commonwealth military base, there being a large garrison for the 28th Commonwealth Independent Infantry Brigade and also one of the three British Military Hospitals in Malaya. Kamunting is situated 4½ km northeast of Kampung Tekkah.
