Göreme is a district of the Nevşehir Province in Turkey. After the eruption of Mount Erciyes about 2.6 million years ago, ash and lava formed soft rocks in the Cappadocia region, covering an area of about 20,000 square kilometres.

Göreme is a town in the Cappadocia region of Turkey, with a population of 2034 in 2022. It's at the heart of the "fairy chimney" landscape, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, with soft volcanic tuff eroded into fantastical rock formations and excavated into cave dwellings.

Uçhisar

Uçhisar is a small town in Cappadocia where pinnacles of soft tuff have been hollowed out into bastions and dwellings. Uç hisar means "outermost fort", the fortified main pinnacle.
