Pedasa, also known as Pedasus or Pedasos, and as Pedasum, was a town of ancient Caria. It was a polis by c. 400 BCE. Alexander the Great deprived the place of its independence by giving it over to the Halicarnassians, together with five other neighbouring towns.

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus or Tomb of Mausolus was a tomb built between 353 and 351 BC in Halicarnassus for Mausolus, an Anatolian from Caria and a satrap in the Achaemenid Persian Empire, and his sister-wife Artemisia II. Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is situated 3½ km south of Akropolis.
