Fort Ponale

Fort Ponale, also known as Forte Teodosio because of the Roman coins found nearby dating to the reign of Emperor Theodosius, and not to be confused with Fort Ampola, is an Austro-Hungarian fortification built near Lake Garda in Northern Italy.

The Ponale road, Ponale highway or lately Alpine trail D 01 is a former highway that was the first road connection between the Garda Lake area and the Ledro valley. Ponale road is situated 180 metres north of Fort Ponale.
