Muscat is the capital of the Sultanate of Oman and its most important and populous city. It has been inhabited since at least 1000 BCE and for centuries was an important trading port on the Maritime Silk Road.

Musandam Peninsula

The Musandam Peninsula is an exclave of Northern Oman. Musandam is the northernmost tip of a peninsula that juts northward into the Persian Gulf and is roughly divided along its length between Oman and the UAE.

Sohar is the capital and largest city of the Al Batinah North Governorate in Oman. An ancient capital of the country that once served as an important Islamic port town on the Gulf of Oman, Sohar has also been credited as the mythical birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor.
