Panmunjeom, also P'anmunjŏm, is on the demarcation line between and . It is a living relic of the Cold War era. It can only be visited on an organized tour.

The is the only portion of the where and forces stand face-to-face. The JSA is used by the two Koreas for diplomatic engagements and, until March 1991, was also the site of military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command.
