Joint Security Area

The Joint Security Area is the only portion of the Korean Demilitarized Zone where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. The JSA is used by the two Koreas for diplomatic engagements and, until March 1991, was also the site of military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command.

The Phanmun Pavilion is a North Korean building located in the northern part of the Joint Security Area in Panmunjom. Built in September 1969, the building functions as North Korea's equivalent to the House of Freedom which is located 80 metres to the south, on the South Korean side of the Military Demarcation Line.

The House of Freedom is a four-story building located in the southern part of Panmunjom. It stands opposite to its North Korean equivalent, the Phanmun Pavilion.

Daeseong-dong is a village in South Korea close to the North Korean border. It lies within the Korean Demilitarized Zone. The village is about 1.6 kilometres south of the Bridge of No Return, and 12 km from the city of Kaesong, North Korea.

Kijŏng-dong, Kijŏngdong, Kijŏng tong or Kaepoong is a Potemkin village in P'yŏnghwa-ri, Panmun-guyok, Kaesong Special City, North Korea. It is situated in the North's half of the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Kijong-dong is situated 3½ km west of Eoyong-ri.
