Tana Toraja
Tana Toraja, literally "Torajaland", is a highland region of Southern Sulawesi in Indonesia. This article also covers Toraja Utara. Rantepao is a town and the capital of North Toraja Regency, Indonesia, which is the cultural center of the Toraja ethnic group. National and regional tourism offices have developed the city as the starting point for visiting Tana Toraja, since the area was opened for tourism in the 1970s.

The town of Makale is the administrative centre of Tana Toraja Regency, in South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The town had about 39,040 inhabitants in mid 2021. It is in the northern part of South Sulawesi and can be reached by bus from Makassar.
