Chersonesus, contracted in medieval Greek to Cherson, was an ancient Greek colony founded approximately 2,500 years ago in the southwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula. Chersonesus Taurica is situated 240 metres west of Храм с аркосолиями X-XIV вв.

The Saint Vladimir Cathedral or Saint Volodymyr Cathedral is a Neo-Byzantine Russian Orthodox cathedral on the site of Chersonesos Taurica on the outskirts of Sevastopol, on the Crimean Peninsula. It commemorates the presumed place of St. Vladimir's baptism. Vladimir Cathedral is situated 250 metres north of Храм с аркосолиями X-XIV вв.
