The Fort Des Moines Provisional Army Officer Training School was a military base and training facility on the south side of Des Moines, Iowa. Established in 1901, the base trained African American officers for the U.S. Army during World War I and was where women first began training for US Army service in 1942 as part of the Women's Army Corps. Fort Des Moines Provisional Army Officer Training School is situated 1¼ miles north of Fort Des Moines Little League.
