Town
Chitrakoot Dham is a city in the Chitrakoot district, in the India state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the headquarters of the Chitrakoot district. Situated in the Baghelkhand region, it holds great cultural, historical, religious and archaeological importance and it is said that Rama, a major deity in Hinduism, spent 11 years of exile in Chitrakoot. Chitrakoot Dham is situated 6 km north of New Apron.

Chitrakoot is a culturally and archaeologically significant town in Bundelkhand, split between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Though relatively unknown to tourists, the area is a pilgrimage destination known for a number of important temples and sites mentioned in Hindu scriptures.
