Roringen is a village in the borough of Göttingen, Germany. High on a hill, it is separated from the city proper some 51⁄2 km to the south-west by farmlands and part of the Göttingen Forest.

Göttingen is a university city in Lower Saxony, central Germany, the capital of the eponymous district. The River Leine runs through it. According to the 2022 German census, the population of Göttingen was 124,548.
