Vasai is a historical place and city located in the Palghar district; it was partitioned out of the Thane district in August 2014. It also forms a part of the Vasai-Virar twin cities in the Konkan division, Maharashtra, India, and comes under the police jurisdiction of the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate.

Dongri is a port city in the Mira-Bhayandar municipality of Thane district, situated just north of Gorai, Mumbai. The word 'Dungaree' has its origin in Dongri due to this genre of garment monolithically being manufactured from textile sectors within the confines of the city. Dongri is situated 4½ km south of Fort Vasai.
