Its name means “thin mountain” in the Hawaiian language, although the “Lahilahi” part was named after Chief Lahilahi, who ruled over the Mākaha area. Mauna Lahilahi is situated 1½ miles northwest of Pai’olu Kaiāulu Shelter.
