Fort Gratiot Light

Fort Gratiot Light, the first lighthouse in the state of Michigan, was constructed north of Fort Gratiot in 1825 by Lucius Lyon, who later became one of Michigan's first U.S. Fort Gratiot Light is situated 1½ km west of CANATARA.

Opened in 1879 by the Town of Sarnia to replace smaller and church-based cemeteries, it is most notable for being the burial place of Canadian Prime Minister Alexander Mackenzie. Lakeview Cemetery is situated 1½ km southeast of CANATARA.
