South Putuo or Nanputuo is a famous Buddhist temple founded in the Tang dynasty in the Chinese city of Xiamen. It is so named because it is south of the Buddhist holy site Mount Putuo in Zhejiang Province. South Putuo Temple is situated 3 km east of Yanping Park.

Gulangyu is an island in Xiamen, a few minutes by ferry from downtown. It has a population around 17,000 and an area of about 2 km². It was a foreign enclave from the 1840s until the 1930s, and is now a residential suburb, a major tourist area, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
