It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and is designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building. Aydon Castle is situated 1 mile northwest of Kiln House.

Coria was a fort and town 2.5 miles south of Hadrian's Wall, in the Roman province of Britannia.
