The church is the only pro-cathedral and parish of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Falkland Islands, an isolated territorial jurisdiction of the Catholic Church directly dependent on the Holy See. St. Mary’s Church, Falkland Islands is situated 150 metres southeast of Gilbert House.

Moody Brook is a small watercourse that flows into Stanley Harbour on East Falkland, Falkland Islands. It is near Stanley, just to the northwest, and was formerly the location of the town barracks, which were attacked in Operation Rosario, the 1982 Argentine Invasion of the Falkland Islands. Moody Brook is situated 4 km west of Gilbert House.
