Jar is a station served both by the Oslo Metro and the Oslo Tramway located in Bærum, just west of Lysakerelva which divides Oslo and Bærum. The track is shared, the tram line joins with the rapid transit line on the Oslo side of the river. Jar station is situated 130 metres southwest of Jar stasjon.

Øvrevoll Galoppbane is the only gallop racecourse in Norway. It is located at Øvrevoll between Østerås, Jar and Eiksmarka in Bærum. It has both a turf track and an all-weather track. Øvrevoll Galoppbane is situated 1¼ km north of Jar stasjon.
