The Matterhorn Museum is a cultural-natural museum in Zermatt whose main theme is the Matterhorn. The museum is in the form of a reconstituted mountain village consisting of 14 houses, and relates the history and development of tourism in the Zermatt area, including the story of the first ascent of the Matterhorn by Edward Whymper and party. Matterhorn Museum is situated 120 metres north of Haus Irene.

Monte Rosa Hotel

The Monte Rosa is a hotel, located in the main street of Zermatt. It was frequented by the members of the Alpine Club, including Edward Whymper who made the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. Monte Rosa Hotel is situated 160 metres north of Haus Irene.
