Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum

The Tomb of Ahmad Sanjar is a mausoleum commemorating Ahmad Sanjar, a Seljuk ruler of Khorasan. It was built in 1157 in the medieval city of Merv in the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan. Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum is situated 2½ km west of Erk Kala.

The Great Kyz Kala is a large ruined fortress in the ancient city of Merv, now in Turkmenistan. It is an example of a köshk or kushk type of fortress: an earthen building built on a raised platform, with exterior walls formed of large vertical engaged columns with large corrugations. Greater Gyz Gala is situated 4 km southwest of Erk Kala.
