It served as the primary residence of the former King Bhumibol Adulyadej and former Queen Sirikit of Thailand, and was the birthplace of King Vajiralongkorn. Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall is situated 230 metres northwest of Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall.
