Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial commonly known as Perry's Monument commemorates the Battle of Lake Erie that took place near Ohio's South Bass Island, in which American Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry led a United States Navy squadron to victory over a smaller Royal Navy squadron under Robert Heriot Barclay during the War of 1812. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial is situated 3,000 feet southeast of Jay Cooke House.
