Rottnest Island is an island about 20 km off the coast of Perth with a permanent population of around 300 people. It receives around 500,000 visitors a year, and up to 15,000 visitors at a time during peak periods and is best known for its adorable quokkas.

Rottnest Island Airport is a small airport for light aircraft, situated about 800 metres from the main settlement at Thomson Bay, Rottnest Island and 19 kilometres northwest of Fremantle.

Wadjemup Lighthouse

Completed in 1849, the original 20-metre Wadjemup Lighthouse was Western Australia's first stone lighthouse and was built to provide a safer sailing passage for ships to Fremantle Harbour and the Swan River Colony.
