Omar Ali Saifuddien III, the 28th Sultan of Brunei, is credited with building the mosque, thus its name. Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque is situated 1¼ km northeast of Tanah Perkuburan Islam Bukit Menumpang.
