The station opened for commercial service on 2 March 2017. The local place name is Niujiaopo. National Taiwan Sport University is situated 1¼ km northwest of 體育館.

Losheng Sanatorium is a sanatorium for lepers in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei, Taiwan. Losheng means "happy life". The building was constructed in the 1930s during the Japanese colonial period. Lo-Sheng Sanatorium and Hospital is situated 2 km southeast of 體育館.
