The station is served both by the high-speed trains of the Wuhan–Guangzhou high-speed railway and by regular passenger trains on the original Beijing–Guangzhou railway running along the same route. Guangzhou North railway station is situated 2 km southwest of Huadu Stadium.

The adjacent Guangzhou North railway station gained a metro station on 28 December 2017, but due to the construction of the Guangzhou–Qingyuan intercity railway, the metro station is inaccessible from the national rail station. Huachenglu is situated 1 km southwest of Huadu Stadium.
