Hvar is an island off the coast of Croatia with a population of about 11,000 people. Imposing fortifications hover above the fluid blend of grey stone and orange cascading roofs.

Šćedro is a small Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, lying 2.7 kilometres south of Hvar opposite the village of Zavala. It covers 8.37 km2 with a deeply indented north coast, forming well-sheltered anchorages such as Lovišće and Mostir. Šćedro is situated 4 km south of Zavala.

Pitve is a settlement on the island of Hvar, in the district of Jelsa. It lies 168 metres above sea-level on the northern side of the island, in the hills above Jelsa. Pitve is situated 3½ km northwest of Zavala.
