The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant undergoing decommissioning. ChNPP is located near the abandoned city of Pripyat in northern Ukraine, 16.5 kilometres northwest of the city of Chernobyl, 16 kilometres from the Belarus–Ukraine border, and about 100 kilometres north of Kyiv. Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant is situated 340 metres east of Sarcophagus / Shelter Object.

The New Safe Confinement is a structure put in place in 2016 to confine the remains of the number 4 reactor unit at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, in Ukraine, which was destroyed during the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.

Pripyat, also known as Prypiat, is an abandoned industrial city in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine, located near the border with Belarus. Named after the nearby river, Pripyat, it was founded on 4 February 1970 as the ninth atomgrad, a type of closed city in the Soviet Union that housed nuclear workers. Pripyat is situated 3½ km northwest of Sarcophagus / Shelter Object.

Kopachi is a former village near Chernobyl, Ukraine, just south-west of the Pripyat River Basin.
