The Mauna Loa Solar Observatory is a solar observatory located on the slopes of Mauna Loa on the island of Hawai'i in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Built in 1965, the MLSO is operated by the High Altitude Observatory, a laboratory within the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and is situated on property managed by the Mauna Loa Observatory.

The Yuan-Tseh Lee Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy, also known as the Array for Microwave Background Anisotropy, is a radio telescope designed to observe the cosmic microwave background and the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect in clusters of galaxies. AMiBA is situated 160 metres northeast of High Altitude Observatory.
