It was officially launched in June 2003 by Mohammad Ali bin Rustam, the former Chief Minister of Malacca as the main hub of the state's MICE tourism. Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) is situated 480 metres northwest of Ayer Keroh Fire and Rescue Station.
