Built c. 1683, It documents period building practices, and the tastes and housing needs of one family, the Pierces, over more than three centuries. The Neponset Indians were the original inhabitants of this district and in 1646 John Eliot preached unsuccessfully to the Native American community in Lower Mills led by Sachem Cutshamekin before the tribe moved to Ponkapoag.
