Pantikapaion was an ancient Greek city on the eastern shore of Crimea, which the Greeks called Taurica. The city lay on the western side of the Cimmerian Bosporus, and was founded by Milesians in the late 7th or early 6th century BC, on a hill later named Mount Mithridat. Panticapaeum (6c B.C. - 3c A.D.) is situated 1½ km northeast of Kerch Fishing Port.

Mount Mithridat is a large hill located in the center of Kerch, a city on the eastern Kerch Peninsula of Crimea. It is 91.4 metres in elevation. From the top of Mount Mithridat a scenic view spreads across the Strait of Kerch and the city of Kerch.
