The Gare du Nord, officially Paris-Nord, is one of the seven large mainline railway station termini in Paris, France, and Europe's busiest railway station. Paris Nord is situated 260 metres south of Hôpital Lariboisière Heliport.

Lariboisière Hospital is a hospital in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, France. The hospital was one of several built following the second cholera pandemic, which had reached Paris in 1832, and which led to a new emphasis on hygienic practices in hospitals.

The Gare de l'Est, officially Paris-Est, is one of the seven large mainline railway station termini in Paris, France. It is located in the 10th arrondissement, approximately 270 meters southeast from the Gare du Nord, facing the Boulevard de Strasbourg, part of the north–south axis of Paris created by Georges-Eugène Haussmann. Gare de Paris-Est is situated 720 metres southeast of Hôpital Lariboisière Heliport.

The 10th arrondissement of Paris centres on the Canal Saint Martin and the restaurants and cafés which line its banks. The 18th arrondissement of Paris is probably best known for the hill of Montmartre which was the centre of the Communard uprising of the late-nineteenth century, but is also perhaps better known as the centre of the flourishing artist community of the period from around 1907-1914.
