Whitby Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church was situated overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, a centre of the medieval Northumbrian kingdom. Whitby Abbey is situated 1½ miles northwest of Whitby Lighthouse.

Hawsker was a railway station on the Scarborough & Whitby Railway. It opened on 16 July 1885, and served the villages of High Hawsker, Low Hawsker and Stainsacre. Hawsker railway station is situated 1¼ miles south of Whitby Lighthouse.
