Fustat, also Fostat, was the first capital of Egypt under Muslim rule, though it has been integrated into Cairo. It was built adjacent to what is now known as Old Cairo by the Rashidun Muslim general 'Amr ibn al-'As immediately after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 641, and featured the Mosque of Amr, the first mosque built in Egypt.

Mosque of ‘Amr ibn al-‘Āṣ

The Amr ibn al-As Mosque is a mosque, located in the Fustat neighbourhood of Old Cairo, Egypt. Named in honour of the Arab Muslim commander Amr ibn al-As, the mosque was built in c. 642 CE as the centre of the newly founded capital of Egypt, Fustat.

It is known for its traditional restaurants, it also has the Qal'at al-Kabsh neighbourhood, which is one of the famous areas in the district, and the Ibn Tulun Mosque. Sayyidah Zainab District is situated 2½ km north of Al Dayoura.
Ma’adi
Ma'adi is a leafy and formerly suburban district of Cairo, south of the city center on the eastern bank of the Nile. Ma'adi was established in 1904, when a railway was built through the area to connect Cairo and Helwan to the south.
