The Great Synagogue
The Great Synagogue, also known as the Georgian Synagogue, is a synagogue, located at 45-47 Kote Afkhazi Street in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Built between 1904 and 1911, it is the largest synagogue in the country and serves as the central house of worship for the city’s Jewish community.Photo: Kober, Public domain.

Following a medieval Georgian tradition of naming churches after specific places in the Holy Land, the Sioni Cathedral bears the name of Mount Zion at Jerusalem. Sioni Cathedral of the Dormition is situated 150 metres north of The Great Synagogue.

Kartvlis Deda is a monument in Georgia's capital Tbilisi. The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Mother of Kartli is situated 300 metres southwest of The Great Synagogue.
