Volontaires is a station on Line 12 of the Paris Métro located in the 15th arrondissement. The station is named after the nearby Rue des Volontaires. In 1822, locals transformed an existing dead end into an alley that led to the Rue de Vaugirard, hence its initial name of Ruelle Volontaire, with the "s" added later to pay homage to the soldiers of the French Revolution, the National Volunteers. Volontaires station is situated 110 metres northwest of Centre d’information scientifique (CIS).

Tour Maine-Montparnasse, also commonly named Tour Montparnasse, is a 210-metre office skyscraper in the Montparnasse area of Paris, France. Constructed from 1969 to 1973, it was the tallest skyscraper in France until 2011, when it was surpassed by the 231-metre Tour First in the La Défense business district west of Paris's city limits. Montparnasse Tower is situated 1 km east of Centre d’information scientifique (CIS).
