The Grave Creek Mound in the Ohio River Valley in West Virginia is one of the largest conical-type burial mounds in the United States, now standing 62 feet high and 240 feet in diameter. Grave Creek Mound is situated 720 feet northwest of West Virginia Penitentiary.
